That’s why NDP offer custom training courses for executives/management/unions/employees based on the organisation’s alcohol and drug policy. This enhances the organisation’s competence and preparedness. We know that our programmes, combined with other measures, contribute to early intervention and a greater focus on helping colleagues and employees find their way out of addiction.

Drug tests

Implementing a random drug test programme shows that the company cares about its employees and does not accept the use of controlled substances in the workplace. It also helps discover substance-abuse problems at an early stage so that help and rehabilitation can be offered.

Working under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is often dangerous. In particular it puts the user at risk, but it also endangers the people around him or her. Some 25% of workplace accidents are caused by substance abuse.

We all know the importance of keeping your mind clear while driving; this should be equally obvious in the workplace. That’s why active efforts to prevent the use of alcohol and drugs in the workplace must include unannounced, random drug tests. The idea is not to single out substance abusers for dismissal, but to find and help individuals who are struggling in their everyday lives and thus to contribute to a safe, healthy workplace – whether in an office or on the production floor. About 1–2% of employees test positive for drugs in our tests each year, so we know that substance abuse exists in our workplaces.

What’s it like at your workplace?

The truth is that addicts do not want to admit they have problems. And that can be costly for a business – in both material and human terms. So hard evidence may be necessary. A drug test can give an organisation the proof it needs to help an individual to change their situation through treatment and rehabilitation.

Random, unannounced drug tests in the workplace are a growing trend as part of organisations’ alcohol and drug policies. They have become an accepted method for improving safety and quality in the workplace. NDP have what you need for drug testing, regardless of industry or geographic location.

We conduct drug tests in connection with:

  • Unannounced random drug testing
  • Recruitment
  • Suspicions of substance abuse
  • Accidents and incidents
  • Rehabilitation, aftercare
  • Regular scheduled testing

Methods

We offer most of the drug test methods available on the market today. Most frequently used at NDP is saliva and urine tests. We adapt the test method based on your needs.

Assessments

It is important to remember that the test results say nothing about the severity of the individual’s drug or alcohol problem. Therefore, the next step after a positive drug test is to assess the individual’s treatment requirements, looking at all the factors contributing to their substance abuse. In collaboration with the person’s workplace, we look at their life situation as well as their alcohol and drug use. Then we adapt the intervention to the person’s individual needs.

This evaluation and any previous treatment the person has received create a basis for a prognosis, which allows us to develop an individual action plan for the person. Every individual is unique; the goal is to match each person with the right treatment, staff and environment. The assessments are carried out from a scientific perspective by trained, experienced and specially licensed staff working in collaboration with NDP.

NDP don’t provide rehabilitation services, but we are happy to put our clients in touch with serious treatment facilities where needed.
